David Lutes and Jason Black were long time friends before they decided to go into the Custom Homebuilding business together. David and Jason have known each other since Freshman year while attending Saint Xavier High School in Louisville, KY. After high school, David went on to graduate with his Masters of Engineering from the University of Louisville. Jason, with a golf scholarship to Bellarmine University, graduated with a Masters of Business Administration.

Through high school, the two would visit new homes being built in now, well established neighborhoods of Oxmoor Woods, Bridgepointe, and Hurstbourne. It was during their college years that the two first discussed what they felt was a very real need for high quality, organized and professional custom home builder in the Louisville area. The two realized that to pursue this dream, capital would be needed. David and Jason both received jobs at Top Fortune companies and garnered many skills transferable in running a successful custom homebuilding company. David and Jason began building for close family and friends while employed managing one to two projects a year. Almost ten years later Stonecroft oversees around 25 homes a year.

Stonecroft specializes in contract homes where they counsel clients from the initial concept design to handing over the keys after completion. Stonecroft Homes has the unique ability in blending old world craftsmanship with today’s amenities to create amazing new homes that accommodate todays lifestyles. Stonecroft has accomplished a number of renovation and restoration projects in some of the Louisville’s area finest homes.

2006 was their first entry in Homearama and they came in 1st place for the two awards given by the public; Favorite Home and Favorite Interior Design. Again, in 2007 their Homearama entry was a Grand Award Winner; 2nd Place for Favorite Home. This propelled them in many circles as one of the finest Louisville Luxury Home Builders.

Today the goal at Stonecroft Homes is to design and build homes that have character and personality. At Stonecroft Homes, we successfully combine Old World craftsmanship and modern amenities to create amazing new homes that accommodate today’s lifestyles. Our houses tend to connect and respect traditional details and proportion, yet break away from the mold of the past to create individual, original homes. In short, we try NOT to write a new language in home design, rather a new verse.

We design our houses to be as individual as their owners. We design our house exteriors to capture you at first sight. From the street, we create timeless facades by blending stone and brick, wing walls, divided-lite windows, and covered entries in our designs to interact with “viewers” before they have even stopped the car. Textured materials — like distressed brick, stone, wood shingle – skillfully contrasted with smooth materials — like metal roofs, batten shutters, wrought iron, make the house even more interesting and give even our most formal house a warm persona.

Inside our houses, we strive to create character and a truly exciting environment. Without sacrificing a feeling of spaciousness, we design our houses to have different facets of personality — just like people have. Some areas should be light and open and other spaces should be more cozy and intimate. Simply, we design our houses to mirror their owners.
